BOTSWANA
Eagle Island Camp – A Botswana Safari Lodge

Hidden from the world, deep within Botswana’s Okavango Delta, is the paradise called Eagle Island Camp. Situated on the island of Xaxaba and surrounded by Illala Palms, the camp overlooks a surrounding lagoon fed by the tranquil waterways of the Delta.
The area offers exceptionally high quality wildlife viewing with prolific birdlife and mammal sightings. It is also the site of one of the most romantic bars in the world, the Fish Eagle Bar, as voted by the New York Times. The camp offers a cool retreat from the African sun and is shaded by a canopy of indigenous trees.
Eagle Island Camp at Xaxaba is one of the Delta’s most pristine natural locations, a region of myriad waterways, palm-treed islands and vast flood plains. During the months of April through October the camp offers a choice of game viewing by mokoro (traditional dugout canoe) or motorised boat sundowner cruises in the surrounding lagoons. When water levels are low (December through March), morning, afternoon and evening game drives are offered, offering guests the opportunity to further explore the surrounding islands. For the more intrepid, safari walks are offered all year around. Also offered at Eagle Island are spectacular gameviewing flights over Botswana by private helicopter, based at Eagle Island Camp. ‘Naturally Wild’ spa treatments are also available for indulgent treatments in the privacy of your own tent.

Abu Camp – A Botswana Safari Lodge
Abu Camp is situated in a 400,000-acre private reserve in the heart of the Okavango Delta. The camp has 6 luxurious “tents” that are located under a shady canopy in an ancient riverine forest. The tents have a unique and wonderful design with a private viewing deck overlooking the lagoon. Each tent at Abu has beautiful en-suite facilities with a shower and a bath.
The dining / bar areas are on raised wooden decks that wind around African ebony and sycamore fig trees. The lounge and dining tent has beautiful big sofas, with a breathtaking view over the lagoon and also features a well-stocked library and a study.
Guests at Abu Camp are invited to share with the resident elephant family what is, without doubt, the ultimate elephant education safari. The elephant experiences offer many magical moments including the interacting with the resident herd of eight elephants – as well as with the herds of wildlife in the area. Abu’s also offers game drives, night drives, walks and mokoro (dugout canoe) safaris – as well as the most intimate elephant learning experience in Africa.
For guests looking for the ultimate in bush luxury and exclusivity, The Elephant Villa is situated across the lagoon – a short five minute drive away. This villa can accommodate a couple or a family with children.

JAO CAMP
A Botswana Safari Lodge

Jao Camp is situated in a private reserve on a remote large island, to the west
of the Moremi Game Reserve in the heart of the Okavango Delta. Across the
waterway in front of the camp, guests have access to open flood plains and savannah
for a wonderful Okavango experience.
Guests at Jao Camp are accommodated in nine large and spacious rooms. There is an
outdoor “sala” for guests to enjoy midday siestas with a view and a breeze.
The rooms are raised off the ground and offer wonderful views of the surrounding flood plains.
A raised walkway connects the rooms to the dining room and lounge area.
There is a plunge pool and an outdoor ‘boma’ for dining under the stars, as well as an
excellent wine cellar. Jao also offers a Salon with a fulltime therapist, offering a wide
range of massage treatments. The activities at Jao include mokoro (dug out canoe) excursions,
boats, fishing, day and night game drives and guided walks. If the area has a large flood,
we usually have to boat to a large island, called Hunda Island, where vehicles would be waiting
and the game drives start.
Jao Camp is extremely seasonal and the annual flood transforms the habitat from
dry green open plains in summer to shallow flood plains in the winter. Access to this area is
only by aircraft.

Kings Pool Camp – A Botswana Safari Lodge

Kings Pool Camp is located in The Linyanti Wildlife Reserve, a private reserve in the Linyanti / Savuti Channel area in the northern part of Botswana, on the western boundary of Chobe National Park. The source of the Savuti Channel is within this private reserve. The camp overlooks the oxbow-shaped Kings Pool Lagoon and the Linyanti River to the north.
Kings Pool Lagoon was apparently named after a Scandinavian monarch who spent a number of nights camping out on the banks of the lagoon, long before the camp was built here. The Linyanti area has a large wildlife resource with a wide variety of species, but it is most noted for its very large Elephant population, which can reach enormous densities during our winter months.
There are good populations of Impala, Lechwe, Kudu, Zebra, Giraffe, Sable, Waterbuck, Buffalo and the smaller plains antelope. The major predators such as Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Wild Dog and Hyena are regularly sighted. The reed and papyrus swamps are ideal for numerous and diverse species of birds and are a magnet for game in the dry winter months.
Accommodation is probably the most luxurious in all of Botswana. There are nine luxurious twin-bedded tented rooms under cool thatch, overlooking the hippo filled lagoon in front of the camp. Each of the new suites has its own large bedroom area, lounge, private plunge pool and a sala. Each en-suite bathroom has two showers, two hand basins and a separate flush toilet. There is an outdoor shower for those who prefer to shower under the stars. The main lounge, pub and dining room are under thatch, and there is a swimming pool built into the deck. The main area is linked to the bedrooms by a raised walkway to allow animals to wander freely around the camp.

TANZANIA
Ngorongoro Crater Lodge – A Tanzania Safari Lodge

Guests can be forgiven for losing track of which era, or even continent, they are experiencing at Ngorongoro Crater Lodge. Nowhere else on earth can you wake up among all the trappings of an elegant baroque chateau – brocade sofas, gilt mirrors, beaded chandeliers and panelled walls – and be instantly transported into one of the most famous African landscapes with just one glance out the window.
In this place of dramatic contrasts, where Versailles meets Maasai, anything is possible and the natural luxury of the breathtakingly beautiful setting ensures the dramatic interior of your suite blends perfectly with its stilted thatch architecture.
Ngorongoro Crater Lodge has been called the game lodge at the top of the world and, between the natural riches of the Crater spread out at its feet and the amazing architecture, it’s easy to believe that you have entered a realm of pure fantasy. With ever-changing views as mists swirl and clouds scurry over the huge wildlife cauldron below, the location is truly breathtaking. Buffalo and zebra wandering the grounds and tall Maasai warriors in traditional dress escorting guests to their rooms contribute to an atmosphere of African mystique and romance.
Everything is chosen to delight the imagination and enhance the spectacular views of the magnificent surroundings. An eclectic blend of elegant teak panelling, Victorian furnishings and whimsical African touches creates a sumptuous atmosphere that is as elegant and unique as the Crater itself. Leather chairs recline in front of a lit fireplace and raw silk curtains screen a private veranda. Even the gigantic bathtub set under its hand-beaded chandelier and the massive round shower offer tantalising glimpses of the world’s most famous caldera.
Divided into three camps, 30 stilted suites with banana leaf ceilings and grass roofs provide an intimate and exclusive Crater experience. Each camp has its own sitting and dining areas, with private butlers to provide warm, personal service to each guest. Brocade sofas and Persian rugs invite guests to re-live the day’s experiences around a roaring fire. The domed dining room, where sparkling silver and crystal vie for attention with the huge windows and awe-inspiring views, ensures that the setting, as well as the meal, is one you will never forget.
Daily game drives into the Crater in closed safari vehicles with popup roofs (07h00 to 14h00 and 15h00 to 18h00), birdwatching, half-day trips to Olduvai Gorge and Shifting Sands (subject to vehicle availability). Optional activities at an additional cost include walking on the Crater rim, a cultural Maasai manyatta visit, sundowners overlooking the Crater on one side and the Serengeti on the other (minimum 10 guests), and private bush breakfasts and lunches on the Crater floor.
Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp – A Tanzania Safari Lodge
Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp is set in the remote reaches of the Serengeti National Park, on a bywater of the Grumeti River, known for its wildebeest crossings and enormous Nile crocodiles. Tucked into a strip of riverine forest, guests thrill to the antics of spectacular pied colobus monkeys (found nowhere else in the Serengeti) and enjoy nocturnal serenades by orchestras of owls and bushbabies.
Every year between June and July, Africa’s annual Great Migration passes through Grumeti, and hundreds upon thousands of wildebeest, zebra and other herbivores cross the Grumeti River, risking the jaws of some of Africa’s largest crocodiles.
Situated beneath tall evergreen trees, the whimsical sweep of flamboyant safari tents hides a blaze of colour in the delightful interiors, with quirky touches and tongue-in-cheek surprises. Al fresco showers are open to the African sky, while the calls of
hippo provide a nightly serenade. Traditional fires and outdoor ovens produce mouth watering dinners under a billion stars. This is the perfect vantage point for one of the most famous fording points of the wildebeest migration.
Step into a blaze of colour in one of only ten flamboyant tents tucked under shady palm frond roofs. Bright, whimsical interiors welcome and invigorate. Vibrant surprises await at every step, from the beaded curtains in the guest areas to the intricate mosaic surfaces of the table tops. Everyday objects acquire a sense of the unusual, with even the spacious outdoor shower shaded from the sun and stars by only a wrought iron dome. Night time becomes an adventure, as hippo call to one another while you lie in the comfort of your king size bed.
As the dense herds of herbivores move across the plains they are shadowed by predators and scavengers. Lion, and hyena, as well as the more elusive cheetah and leopard, mingle with the migrating masses, while vulture and jackal await the scraps of the more powerful predators. The Serengeti is famous for its large lion population and a number of lion prides are present in each of the areas utilised by our camps. The far lighter and faster cheetah are also present. During the migration, the spotted hyena may be spotted wandering among the herds in the plain light of day.
